Before pivoting to architecture, Christine achieved recognition in her professional career in film as a producer and editor. She worked across documentary and fiction formats and her films have been recognized by international film festivals and nominated for an Independent Spirit Award. Christine earned her M.Arch from Columbia University, where she was the recipient of the Lowenfish Memorial Prize. She now produces work that spans architecture and filmmaking, with a particular focus on biogenic materials and re-use systems. As a co-found of Friends Making Work, Christine often relies on her deep and varied expertise to create original short films as a component of the group’s exhibitions. In addition to her artistic practice, Christine works with clients on commercial and residential projects through her design practice, Means of Egress. Last year, she organized a hempcrete workshop and led the first thermal retrofit in NYC to utilize hemp-lime as the primary insulation in an historic brick townhouse. A new single-family residence, designed in collaboration with Gabriel Vergara, is currently under construction on Long Island.
